Relapse: een nieuw studio album van Eminem

De spanning rondom het nieuwe album ‘Relapse’ van Eminem loopt verder op. In eerste instantie zou het album in 2007 uitgebracht worden, daarna werd vorig jaar Kerst als release datum genoemd en nu is er sprake van een release eind maart 2009.
Op ‘Relapse’, eerder bekend onder de naam ‘King Mathers’, zal een groot aantal rappers bijdragen gaan leveren. Zo is er sprake van dat Rubber Band Man T.I. zijn steentje bij gaat dragen en ook stalgenoot 50Cent zal zijn ding doen op ‘Relapse’. Recente kwam het nieuws naar buiten dat ook Jay-Z een song, ‘My Syllielable’, heeft opgenomen voor het nieuwe album van Slim Shady. De enige must-have die eigenlijk nog ontbreekt is Lil’ Wayne !

Producers

Een keurkorps aan producers werkt, of heeft gewerkt, aan ‘Relapse’. Natuurlijk is Aftermath-baas Dr. Dre van de partij, die zelfs zijn eigen ‘Detox‘ voor ‘Relapse’ heeft uitgesteld. Andere producers die genoemd worden in relatie tot ‘Relapse’ zijn onder meer ‘It’s me Bitches’ Swizz Beatz en DJ Premier. Laatstgenoemde zou een nummer geproduceerd hebben met als titel ‘Keys to the City’.

Relapse: Eminem’s eerste studio album sinds Encore

Het laatste album dat Eminem uitbracht was ‘Encore’. Dit fel bekritiseerde maar desondanks goed verkopende album uit 2004 bracht slechts twee top-10 hits voort in Nederland: ‘Lose Yourself’ en ‘Like Toy Soldiers’ schopten het tot respectievelijk een 3e en 7e plek in de mega top 40. Een magere oogst, in Nederland, in vergelijking tot de prestatie’s van de ‘Slim Shady LP’, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ en de ‘Eminem Show’.
De verwachtingen rondom ‘Relapse’ zijn dan ook hooggespannen: Eminem heeft absoluut wat goed te maken!

Crack a Bottle

Eind vorig jaar lekte via internet een ruwe demo uit van een van de tracks die op ‘Relapse’ zouden komen te staan. Deze track, genaamd ‘Crack a Bottle’, was verre van af en Eminem was not at the least amused met het lekken van deze track. Begin van dit jaar lekte een tweede versie uit van ‘Crack a Bottle’ ditmaal leek het een complete track, waarop zowel Dr. Dre als 50 Cent hun opwachting maken. Luister hier naar ‘Crack a Bottle’:
